Growing roses is easier than you think and if you live in Long Beach there are are few varieties that are proven to be sure winners.
Iceberg Roses were first bred in Germany in 1958 and today are one of the most easily recognized and popular. The reason being these plant guarantees to have blooms almost continuously throughout the growing season. The bushes have a weepy appearance which give your garden an instant jolt of romance, plus since they are a neutral white, they work well with all other plants and all houses colors.
Knock Out Rose Bush are a fantastic starter plant for beginners because they require very little care and are disease resistant. The bush grows to a manageable 3' tall by 3' wide and unlike tea rose bushes they push the old blooms out of the way when a new bud forms, therefore you don't need to deadhead (cut off the spent blooms). The hot pink color will not go unnoticed in any setting.
Lastly we choose a climber to recommend, because every yard should have at least on dramatic climbing plant. To remember these variety think "eye-candy" and that childhood favorite game of Candy Land. This climber produces an abundance of blooms but also the green leaves are super pretty as well.
We highly recommend H&H Nursery in Lakewood for purchasing roses and for utilizing the staff for their knowledgeable input.
