Being a member of the Century Club is a fantastic experience for so many reasons, but last night's meeting showcased the pearls of wisdom we are privy to from athletes and coaches.
First we had Reggie Berry, a retired NFL player and currently the driving force behind the "Goals for Life" program, feeding us awesome motivational quotes. His program helps at risk youth by connecting them with mentors who have seen success in their own fields of endeavors. Their premier fundraising event of the year is fast approaching. The Waterfront Celebration will take place outside of Gladstones at the Harborside Pavilion on September 14. The donation fee to attend is $95 which gets you beer, wine, food, music and the ability to rub shoulders with former NFL players and community leaders. Click here to purchase tickets.
Next we had CSULB Women's Volleyball coach Brian Gimmillaro speak about the upcoming season. Gimmillaro is extremely passionate about winning, Cal State Long Beach, his players and of course, Misty May-Treanor. If Misty wasn't near and dear our hearts before, Brian sealed the deal with the following story. He said that as the players enter the floor of the Pyramid there is a quote written on the inside wall they touch, and it reads, "Find a way to make your teammates better." He stressed that the very best thing about Misty May-Treanor was her gift to do just that. Great quote for college athletes and a great story to go with it.
The Women's Volleyball schedule kicks off on September 4 with a night game against Idaho. Hope you can make it out to support the team. Click here for season schedule. Go Beach!!
