This week in Long Beach has seen record rain and heavy cloud cover making the winter solstice feel, well, like the winter solstice. Cool temperatures are nice lead up to Christmas and New Year's

On the pedestrian friendly Promenade in Downtown Long Beach you can find interesting eateries such as Michael's, which my client from Naples assures me is very authentic, or the fantastically decadent, and of course delicious food at Beachwood BBQ. I highly recommend a visit to Mark Schneider Fine Jewelry, previously Dave Schneider, on the corner of Broadway if you are looking for a special piece. Check out their Long Beach logo necklace!

For last minute Christmas ornament shopping Luna on 2nd Street at Argonne in the Belmont Shore can't be beat for best selection. Glad to see it was a hustle bustle day at the Shore. Remember to shop local! I had to include the picture of the Purple Galore shop on Main Street in Seal Beach. Purple must be our favorite local color since we also have The Purple House and Purple Yoga!

The third Dunkin' Donuts in the Southland opened up last week to much fanfare. Yes, the big donut has been returned as the preservationist demanded and I have to say I like it much better in chocolate with sprinkles a whole lot better than the dirty pink version.

Here are a few pictures I took while out and about in the Los Altos neighborhood. I hadn't thought of the plant Christmas cactus for some time but this beauty brought it all back to mind. Some people just have an eye for color. My friend who is an artist at heart came up with a lovely cream on the side and green on the front combination I just had to share. And some people just nail the drought tolerant front yard. The people in the house below pulled a perfect 10!

I recently became involved with the non-profit Rebuilding Together Long Beach. The holiday party certainly helped me put a face with an email address. This organizations works to help the elderly and disabled stay in their homes. Thanks Tanya for the photo op!

On a personal note I finally met interested buyers from Brazil that I have been corresponding with for many months. They met me at our newest listing in Los Altos which truly is gorgeous inside, as were they.
