Artcraft Manor is know for its large lots, smaller houses and duplexes that were built as Navy housing in the 1940s.
Stratford Square homes were built in the 50s and 60s. Many of these homes have been greatly upgraded.
Park Estates is the poshest neighborhood in the 90815 zip code. Custom built homes from the 50s on large lots have attracted fussy buyers for the years. There is a Park Estates Homeowner's Association which has rules and regulations, but it is not a gated community.
Los Altos is famous for being the tract built by Floyd Whaley. He started construction in 1946 at the intersection of Clark and Atherton and moved east, building until 1951. The Plaza homes were also built in the 50s. The houses in this tract are desirable for raised lots and curb-appeal. A house always looks best on top of grade and this original contractor took advantage of that fact. This area is also loved for its close proximity to El Dorado Park.
La Marina Estates is the smallest neighborhood and is located just across the street from CSULB. It is famous for its large custom built homes also on larger lots.
Bixby Hill is a gated community with both large homes, townhouses and apartments. You may find it interesting that the land was original part of the Rancho Los Alamitos. The Rancho is now a open to the public and holds many events highlighting the history of the area.
El Dorado Park South is known for being a close-knit neighborhood. There are only a few entrances and its location by the river bed and El Dorado Park make it pleasant for its seclusion.
