The Los Altos community will be out in force at this week's council meeting to tell JetBlue to keep flights domestic.
Long Beach Airport
After months of hinting, JetBlue last week sent a formal letter to the new Airport Director Bryant Francis requesting the Long Beach Airport apply to become a federal customs facility to allow for international flights.
The week before, a study session on Long Beach Airport's federal noise ordinance took place prior to the council meeting, and discussion was continued during the formal meeting. It was concluded that the best way for Long Beach Airport to maintain the grandfathered exemption is to not change anything.
The council meeting is on Tuesday, March 3 and starts at 6 pm at City Hall. The airport issue is currently listed third on the agenda, which puts it probably about 30 minutes into the meeting. The parking structure for City Hall is off of Broadway, which runs one-way heading south. At this time of night it is probably best if you avoid the 710 and take Ocean Blvd heading north. Make a right on Magnolia, another right on Broadway and then make a right into the first parking structure. The actually address is 333 W. Ocean Blvd for a map search.
City Hall is located close to the Main Library, just north of Ocean Blvd, between Magnolia and Pacific
