I remember when Long Beach's Snow Day consisted of a small pile of snow being delivered to the north side of Whaley Park (small Whaley) and the kids playing in it with parent supervision. Today Snow Day has morphed into one of the best attended free municipal events of the year. There are free hot dogs and drinks, provided by our Long Beach Fire Fighters, Live DJ playing pulsating music, sleigh rides down the snow slope, large snow play area, bouncers, vendors giving away prizes and goodies.
Better Living in Long Beach is sponsoring our annual booth. Our Stick Bugs made it through another year and will be there to entertain, frighten and fascinate. This year we have upped the ante on the "Guess how Many......in the Jar" to pennies, with the winner taking away the pennies! Everyone who participates by coloring a winter scene pictures gets entered into a drawing for one of two toy filled baskets, put together by Long Beach's best Toy Store, Riches
on Broadway and Falcon. We can't promise our cookies will be able to make an appearance this year, but we will have jugs of water on hand, because playing in the cold snow dehydrates the little ones quickly.
The festivities start at 11 am and run to 3:00 pm. The location is Whaley Park at 5620 Atherton Street, at the intersection of Bellflower. Click here
