Who is Moving to Long Beach These Days?
There are studies that answer this question and the word âcensusâ comes to mind. The following observation is definitely not based on a careful study, but comes from chance encounters, which is what being a Realtor is all about.
It all starts with my hairdresser Miss A, who I talk to frequently due to my many coifing struggles. Miss A who is of Greek descent, grew up in nearby Downey, which you may not know, boasts a sizable Greek population. When it came time for Miss A and her beau to buy a home they set their sights on our fair city of Long Beach and I was more than happy to get involved. After we successfully found them a home Miss A referred me to a nice couple also from Downey, and also of Greek descent, looking to move to Long Beach.
Was this a coincidence that both couples hail from Downey yet want to set down roots in Long Beach? I argue that this is an important trend. Just like the movie âMy Big Fat Greek Weddingâ these Downey families are tight knit and while the younger generation appreciates tradition they are looking for a place a tad more exciting than Downey yet close enough to what will soon be the all important Grandparents.
I will probably never have empirical evidence of my theory but you have to agree it makes sense. I mean really, who is their right mind wouldnât want to live in Long Beach!
