Fall 2022 Shred – November 5 at CSULB

Sponsored by Michele K for Poly High Wrestling Team

Last Saturday’s Spring Shred Event was a huge success! In fact it was so popular we will definitely be reserving two trucks for the Fall Event.

Coach Ken Lee and his Poly High Wrestling team showed up an hour before the start time to help with signs and organize the early-to-show attendees. Once the truck started shredding at 9 am they jumped into action emptying vehicles of their bags and boxes and didn’t stop until the noon end time.

The team raised over $3,500 in donations. Many attendees came because of their connection to Poly High and gave generously. While Coach Lee was happy for the funds to add to their $20,000 mat fundraiser he was just as happy for the opportunity for the team to work together as a team. According to Coach Lee the team is young and due to the pandemic they haven’t had the opportunity to bond and their social skills need some honing. They did seem to be enjoying themselves.

I apologize if you attended and had to wait in the long line. Coach Lee and I are hopeful CSULB will grant use of the parking lot on the first Saturday in November. Stay tuned – I will definitely be circling back to let you know the next date to put on your calendars!

New Location too!

For years I have hoped to hold my bi-annual events on that wide-open lower level parking lot of Cal State Long Beach. So it is with great pleasure I announce to you that our Spring, April 2 event WILL be held on the parking lot of CSULB, just off Atherton Street, to the west of Long Beach’s iconic Pyramid.

Your Donations Benefit Long Beach High School Students

Poly High School’s Wrestling program is sorely in need of new mats. The Wrestlers have been working hard to raise the $20,000 needed. While our Shred Events are free and there is no limit we fervently hope you will give generously. The Wrestlers will help unloading your vehicles of your sensitive documents. The papers are shredded securely on-site by bonded Southern California Shredding.

Bring sensitive documents and don’t worry about removing staples or clips. They do not shred magazines, newspaper, x-rays or 3-ring binders. Also your boxes and bags do not get shredded and will be returned to you.

Win-win-win!

I won’t beat around the bush. These events are good for me as well as the people who need a convenient (inexpensive) place to shred documents and for the hosting group. I meet potential clients who may be thinking of selling or buying. Attendees have a drop-dead date to get those cabinets and closets cleaned out. The hosting group works hard for a few hours and receives all the donations. Our record for donations received is $4,000!

History of our fundraising event to benefit area school programs

Michele K’s Community Shred Events started over 12 years ago to raise funds for the Stanford PTA.  These popular and successful fundraising events have been held twice a year ever since at various locations to benefit various non-profit organizations. All expenses are covered by Michele K with the hope that our participates give generously to the hosting group. We have held shredding events for Minnie Gant PTA, Wilson High School and Millikan High School’s Female Leadership Academy and most recently, during the pandemic, Our Lady of Refuge Church School.
